Family Guild

Ridley College Family Guild (RCFG)

The RCFG is a parent-driven organization that supports the students and school by volunteering its time, talent and energy. Every Ridley College parent and guardian automatically belongs to the Guild upon enrollment of his or her child. Our parent support network also aims to orient new families to the school; offering a parent perspective and first-hand advice.

The mission of the Guild is to encourage the interest and participation of members through fellowship, involvement and service to the school. There are a number of volunteer opportunities throughout the year in which Ridley parents may become involved and we certainly hope that they do.

The Guild formally meets on campus once a month (on Tuesdays). Ridley parents are encouraged to become a part of this active community and have some fun while supporting our students.

List of 11 items.

  • Baking for Boarders

Looking to try a new recipe? Why not consider 'Baking for Boarders'? Friday night treats are provided for the junior boarders (Gr. 5 to 8) of Burgoyne House.

Volunteering for this programme is simple; commit to one Friday delivery of three dozen, net-free baked goods. Deliveries should be made to Lower School front office at 8:30am of your designated Friday.
  • Chapel Committee

Decorating for special events, caring for Chapel plants. etc.

  • Christmas Market

Another major fundraising initiative for the RCFG, a one day event organized and hosted by the RCFG. This is the only school event that involves both Upper School and Lower School, many faculty, staff, parents, and the local community. Admission is free and showcases more than 60 vendors, musical entertainment, prize draws, a raffle, children’s craft corner, specialty food, market cafe, and a special visit from Santa.
  • Decorating

Without this hard-working committee, events like Graduation, Cadet Ball, Christmas Market, and many other receptions would not be complete. The Decorating Committee requires a team of volunteers for each set-up and take-down at special events.
  • Family Mentor Programme

The Family Mentor Programme team welcomes new families into the Ridley Community. The Mentor season starts in February, when the Committee Chairs work closely with the Admissions Office collecting names of new Ridley Families who wish to liaise with a Family Mentor. Correspondence starts shortly afterwards, and continues throughout the summer.
  • Hank's Co-op Store

Hank’s campus store provides students, staff, and parents with a ready supply of items required for school life without the need to leave campus grounds. Hank’s has given the RCFG a revenue base which supplies funds to scholarships and bursaries, and school selected projects. Ridley College employs one full time and a few part time staff to run the store.
  • Lost & Found

Lost items are collected and washed in preparation for display. Unlabeled and unclaimed items are donated to charity, while uniforms are donated to the Recycled Clothing Programme.

  • Recycled Clothing

A major fundraising initiative for the RCFG, the Recycled Clothing Programme collects, launders, and sells gently used Ridley uniforms. Donations are collected throughout the school year, with the major collections in May and June. Laundering, preparation, and storage takes place in June, ready for sales that begin mid-August.

  • TigerFest Carnival

Our TigerFest Carnival is an exciting, familiy-oriented event that takes place in early June. There are boucey castles, music, vendors, food & drink, raffles and more. It is truly a community event. We could always use your assistance in planning for, sponsoring or volunteering on the day of TigerFest.
