Why Our Skating School is Different

In the traditional skating world, students at this level sacrifice time in the classroom for training. Parents juggle logistics, source specialized coaching and spend a lot of time travelling to and from the rink.

Ridley College changes that.

  • All-in-One Model: Students live, learn and skate on campus.
  • Academics + Elite Training: Balanced schedule combining academics with on-ice and off-ice training throughout the week.
  • Team-Training Environment: Emphasis on camaraderie and teamwork is woven into this programme. Students training and living together have huge benefits for social-emotional support and student wellbeing.
  • World-Class Coaching Faculty: Internationally recognized high-performance coaches are available to meet your child’s training needs, which will be set out in personal goals and training plans.

Programme Highlights

  • Elite Coaching Faculty: Coaching faculty includes a Head Coach and a rotation of internationally recognized high-performance coaches and mentors.
  • Integrated Training and Education: Balanced schedule combining rigorous academics with intensive on-ice and off-ice training.
  • Individual Goal Setting and Development Plans: Skaters collaborate with coaches to establish personal goals and training plans. Regular monitoring and feedback ensure consistent progress aligned with each athlete’s objectives.
  • Team Training Environment: Emphasis on camaraderie and teamwork in a sport traditionally focused on individual performance.
  • On-Site Athletic Therapy: Access specialized care for injury prevention, recovery and peak performance.
  • Performance and Competitive Opportunities: Participation in Skate Canada/Skate Ontario competitions, performance simulations and exhibitions.

Comprehensive Weekly Training

  • On-ice: jumps, spins, skating skills, edgework and turns.
  • Off-ice: dance, yoga, pilates, fitness (strength training) and off-ice jump development.
  • Coaching is delivered through both group sessions and private lessons to optimize efficiency and personalized learning.
