Ridley College employs highly qualified private music teachers for instruments and voice. Our students may select an instrument or voice to study privately on campus.

Private music instruction is offered at Ridley College in many musical disciplines, from the beginner level through the Associate Diploma of the Royal Conservatory of Music (Toronto).

Students signed up for term one lessons before September 1st will receive a free 30-minute introductory lesson with their teacher between September 18th and September 22nd. Students who register after September 1st will begin lessons during the week of September 25th.

Lessons take place during the school day at a fixed weekly time that suits the student, family and teacher. Students must provide their own instruments for lessons. Piano students must have access to a piano or keyboard for practice at home.

Additional Information

Families pay in advance for lessons in each term. Students should attend their lesson every week and must provide 24 hours' notice in the event of a foreseeable absence. In the event that a student is unable to attend a lesson, he or she will have these options:

  1. Students will video record lesson material and provide it to the teacher at or before the weekly lesson for timely, virtual feedback.
  2. The teacher may offer an alternative in-person lesson time during the week. Students who pay in advance for the ten lessons can have a maximum of two make-up lessons in Weeks 11 and 12 of the term. Teachers cannot provide more than two make-up lessons per term.
  3. Students who do not provide 24 hours' notice or who are absent without a suitable reason will be charged for the weekly lesson and will have no make-up lesson opportunity.
  4. Lessons for students in Weeks 11 and 12 will be charged individually, provided they are not make-up lessons.
