September 1973 saw the first female students at Ridley, 11 girls had enrolled and among them was Chantal Ramsay (daughter of Kenneth Ramsay '38) who would attend as a day-girl, with lodgings provided by a faculty family. Among the first five women to graduate from Ridley, the girls were aware that they were part of an experiment, and they felt that it was incumbent upon them to make the experiment a success. Ramsay has had a very successful career in government relations, currently working as the Senior Economic Officer in The International Marketing Centre in Mexico City, located in the Canadian Embassy. Part of its mandate is to promote awareness of Ontario and the province's many business opportunities, to work with Mexican companies to find investment opportunities in Ontario, and to build relationships with the media and local governments.
