Summer Programmes 2021 Update

Hello from Ridley College Summer Programmes! Preparations for our 2021 Programme Season are currently in motion. As valued members of our community, we aim to offer a quality and flourishing summer camp experience for all our participants. This is an opportunity for our campers to have transformative experiences, to build new friendships, learn new skills, develop character—and, most importantly, to have FUN! We certainly understand the toll this worldwide pandemic has taken on the socialization and development of our youth; we hope to offer a fulsome summer of programming, while maintaining a safe and healthy environment where our campers can just be kids again!
Thank you for considering Ridley College Summer Programmes for your child(ren) this coming summer. Although we will strive to uphold the quality programme we have provided in previous years, we kindly ask, before you consider registering, that you note some of the following new restrictions and regulations we will enforce for our upcoming season.
We aim to stay current and up to date on all information put forth by our Provincial and Health Advisors and, as new information comes out, our goal is to communicate any and all changes that may affect 2021 Summer Programming to our staff and families as we become aware.
We hope to welcome past and new families to our beautiful campus to discover the perfect place to flourish this summer.
Should you have any further questions or require additional information at this time, please feel free to contact us via email at summerprogrammes@ridleycollege.com  or by phone as indicated below.

Summer 2021 New Norms

The following new norms will be in addition to our daily programme routines:

  1. All camps will be offered as one-week sessions (unless otherwise stated), however, our enrolment levels will be reduced to groups of up to 15 participants to enhance physical distancing guidelines.
  2. Groups will stay together exclusively. Camp activities will be designed to promote physical distancing between participants. Within their group, campers will be encouraged to maintain a physical distance of two meters whenever possible.
  3. Screening protocols for participants and staff will occur daily, upon arrival.  This may include but not inclusive to a self-assessment questionnaire, which is confidential and will ask general health questions based on signs and symptoms of COVID-19 as well as a temperature check.
  4. Masks WILL be required by all staff and participants when indoors at all times, unless eating or drinking. *Campers will not be required to wear a mask or face covering while engaging in physical activity, sport and select co-curriculars (such as music), except when a distance of two meters cannot be maintained.
  5. At this time, we will be planning to offer daily recreational swimming included in most day programmes, however, we will monitor and communicate any restrictions or regulations regarding this activity as we are made aware.
  6. A lunch option will be offered to our Summer Programmes participants in compliance with our Healthy Dining Routines policies and procedures. Two (2) Snacks daily will NOT be included. Campers are asked to bring peanut/nut free snacks with them daily to enjoy during their nutrition breaks.
  7. We will not be allowing visitors, including parents, into the Camp Office or into any other building/facility on the Ridley Campus. All inquiries must be made by phone or email for contactless service and arrival and dismissal procedures will be located in designated outdoor areas.
  8. There will be no field trips offered for any Day Programmes during Summer 2021.
  9. All other policies outlined, including those with respect to transfers, cancellations and expectations for behaviour, will remain unchanged. Please check our website for an updated Parent Guide in May 2021.
  10. If we are advised to cancel any or all sessions of a camp program due to COVID-19, all registration fees will be refunded in full.

Summer 2021 Health & Safety Procedures

Based on our accepted practices for Ridley College at the present time, the following Healthy Policies should be expected for Summer 2021.
In addition, as we are still in the midst of COVID-19 Specific Protocols, we will strive to offer the following precautions to ensure the health and safety of our participants and staff members:
  • Screening protocols for participants and staff daily, upon arrival. If a camper has a temperature of 38C (100F) and above, they will NOT be permitted to enter camp. Also, parents should keep their camper home if their child or someone in the household is experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, and it’s advised they return ONLY if they or the family member has been cleared by a medical professional or the ill member produces a negative COVID-19 test.
  • Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) will be enforced when physical distancing cannot be maintained or is unpredictable. Masks are mandatory for camper that are in Grade 1 and up. Masks are strongly encouraged for campers who are younger (JK/SK). Masks must be worn when indoors at all times and when outdoors, only when two metre distancing cannot be maintained or is unpredictable.
  • We will maintain smaller group sizes with maximum capacities of 15 participants per camp, and minimal daily interactions with other cohorts, which may include separate designated areas for groups.
  • Qualified staff will enforce physical distancing requirements, frequent sanitization and ensure daily safety measures are monitored.
  • Campers and groups will utilize individual supplies, equipment and activities where possible.
  • We will incorporate fun and creative physically-distanced sports, games, crafts and activities into our programme curriculums. We will hold activities outdoors whenever possible.
  • Cleaning and sanitization of equipment and high-touch areas will be ongoing and frequent throughout the daily routines.
  • Signage for mask use, hand hygiene, respiratory hygiene, cohorts, and traffic flow to encourage physical distancing measurements of at least two (2) metres.
