For a Ridley basketball player, the only thing that beats making a dunk off a foul shot is making that shot when you’re playing against UCC! While Mike earned colours in soccer, softball and track, it was on the basketball court where he truly distinguished himself. Outside of Ridley, this talented player was recognized as an Ontario Basketball Association U19 Triple A Team MVP and helped bring home a provincial championship.
After graduation, he attended the University of Toronto where he played for the Varsity Blues, making it to the playoffs every year that he was on their roster. There’s no doubt that physical skill contributed to his success in basketball, but it’s the head game that he considers far more important. Mike credits the sports I.Q. he developed through countless hours on the court, especially here at Ridley, as being the secret to his success.
“Failure builds the foundation to becoming great.”
