Jamie was captain of First Hockey in both Lower School and Upper School, two-time winner of the Headmaster’s Trophy, and a major contributor to the success of Ridley’s football, track and rugby teams.
His impressive athletic career continued at Middlebury College, where he played hockey, rugby and ran track. Jamie credits his success to lessons in self-discipline learned at Ridley. He fondly recalls a European tour with the First Hockey team, during which they went undefeated in a series of seven matches—including one against the Dutch Jr. National Team. Jamie’s teenage self was impressed by the fight that broke out during one of those games and the dual Zambonis that resurfaced the ice between periods.
“I learned that academics and athletics could be successfully combined by being disciplined with your time. And in practice, working hard in areas of weakness can improve consistency and performance.”
