Residential Life Programme
In a continuing effort to educate the whole student, it is obvious that not all lessons will occur in the classroom or throughout the academic day. Ridley has embarked on the development of a personal growth curriculum through experiential learning and opportunities for leadership. In many boarding schools this is referred to as a Residential curriculum but as we all know Ridley’s Upper School boarding community uniquely integrates day students and as such this program will be designed for the entire Ridley community. Although there is a vast skill set involved in such a program, areas of concentration will involve: 1) independent learning of time management and studies 2) learning to live respectfully and responsibly with others 3) developing individual strength of character and understanding of others 4) becoming better prepared to function confidently and competently in a less controlled University or College environment and later in life. The implementation of this programme will support Ridley’s core values: integrity, knowledge, respect for community and personal growth through perseverance. Topic suggestions and program development will involve input from students and faculty within the Ridley community. Faculty will be involved in this initiative, as well as outside resources such as guest speakers and other professional contributions. Programming will occur during evenings in the residence, the class day and on selected Saturday mornings throughout the school year.
