Ted Chen attended Ridley College in 2002 from Taiwan as a Grade 7 boarding student in the Lower School.
Ted had the opportunity to pick up new sports and hobbies during his time at Ridley, and is most grateful for the opportunity to learn how to play basketball. He started playing on the Under-16 team, and eventually made the First Boys basketball team in Grade 11 and 12.
Ted was also a member of the Harriers and Lacrosse teams. He earned the Duke of Edinburgh silver award, was a House Captain in Merritt North, and was a member of the Students with Advanced Technology Team (S.W.A.T.).
Upon graduation, Ted attended Nanyang Technological University of Singapore where he studied Electronic and Electrical Engineering, and later received the Nanyang Outstanding Young Alumni Award in 2017. He took part in an entrepreneur bootcamp at Stanford University in 2013 that helped motivate him to start his own business. He then returned to Singapore and co-founded EverComm (http://www.evercomm.com.sg/) in 2014.
EverComm uses data analytics to identify cost savings for companies with high energy bills (as much as $6M on energy per month). EverComm’s platform allows clients to save between two to fifteen percent each month on their energy bills. Ted’s team continues to grow and work towards combatting the issue of climate change. In 2016, Ted notably made it to the Forbes Asia 30 Under 30 list.
