Clement Tong '97

Clement graduated Ridley in 1997 where he had particularly fond memories of Mr. Lewis and Mr. Reimer. From Ridley, he headed to Columbia University where he obtained his B.S. and M.S in Electrical Engineering. Following graduation, he did a stint working in telecommunications as a researcher for AT&T Research Labs. He made the switch to investment banking and now works as a Portfolio Manager at a hedge fund. In this role, Clement is a quantative equities trader, manages a team of technical researchers, and designs and implements computerized automatic trading systems using complex mathematical models, machine learning algorithms, and economic theories.
 
He finds the hedge fund business to be exciting and puts to use his highly quantitative and technical knowledge. His engineering background is a perfect fit for the mathetmatical research he performs on a day-to-day basis. He trades all day in international markets, and is constantly thinking about soliving any unforeseen trading problems.
