Gavin has always been intrigued by the natural world and how and why things work. This interest grew stronger while studying biology, chemistry and physics while at Ridley.

After graduating from Ridley in 1993, Gavin went to Dalhousie University in Halifax and graduated with an Advanced Double Major B.Sc. in Biology and Sociology. He moved to the UK and graduated from Medical school at Queen's University of Belfast in 2003.  His other qualifications include Medical Council of Canada examinations and he is a Fellow of the Royal College of Radiologists in London. He has also taken part in an International Observership at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital in New York City.

He works as a Consultant Radiologist within the National Health Service in the UK. Apart from general cross sectional imaging, his main specialty is the imaging and diagnosis of diseases of the breast. The majority of his work involves breast cancer.

As a mentor, he could advise alumni about getting into medical school and life as a doctor. Most of his experience is based in the U.K. and Ireland, but he does have some experience with Canadian medical school admissions.
