• Global Health

Sarah Jane Steele has been interested in health since she was at Ridley. She graduated in 2000 after spending two years at Ridley. During her undergraduate degree at Queen’s University, she became increasingly interested in population and public health. She had been particularly interested in issues related to global health. Sarah Jane completed both her MHSc (Community Health and Epidemiology) and her PhD in Epidemiology at the University of Toronto.

After completing her PhD, Sarah Jane joined MSF Doctors without Borders because she was interested in working in applied research. She provides technical support, coordinates monitoring and evaluation, as well as operational research within the South Africa mission.

Sarah Jane has worked in global health in both applied and academic settings in Canada, China, and several African countries. She has primarily worked in the areas of reproductive and sexual health.

Any young alumni interested in global and public health would be well served with Sarah as a mentor.
