Tyrrel works in veterinary medicine, both in a private practice as well as academically. As a clinician, he owns and works out of Oakridge Animal Clinic where he offers patient care, diagnostics, medicine, and surgery.
In an academic environment, Tyrrel is the University Veterinarian and Director of Animal care and Veterinary Services at Western University. At Western, he oversees animal care, reviews applications for projects, ensures all regulations are followed, in addition to assisting scientists and lending his expertise to diagnostics
Previously, Tyrrel owned various veterinary practices in Toronto and London, worked in emergency medicine in Toronto, and was a consulting veterinarian at Salthaven Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre.
Tyrrel has always been drawn to medicine, enjoying the challenges and rewards that come with the variety and scope of work available in veterinary medicine. Any young alumni interested in veterinary medicine should be excited to speak with Tyrrel.
