Miye Cox works in the automobile manufacturing industry as the Manager of Environmental Engineering at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Inc. for the Cambridge and Woodstock plants. Under her direction, the responsibilities of the Environmental Engineering department include: ensuring the plant is operating in compliance with environmental regulations, establishing and maintaining ISO 14001 certification, management of environmental key performance indicators (i.e. energy consumption, water consumption, waste generation and air emissions), implementation of wildlife restoration programs at the plant, and coordination with regulatory agencies on legislative changes.
Miye graduated from Queen’s University with a BSc in Chemical Engineering and entered into a career in environmental consulting where she practiced for 9 years. Through consulting she worked within an automobile plant where she gained experience in manufacturing. Through these experiences she was able to join Toyota Motor Manufacturing where she has been for 18 years.
She enjoys working for Toyota because it allows her to make a difference, provides her with challenges, as well as variety in her work. Those looking for advice regarding management and regulatory practices should strongly consider Miye as a mentor.
