Jim Cairncross is a highly accomplished management consultant in the energy field. In particular, he has dealt with the electrical utility industry including power generation, transmission, distribution, conservation, and regulation. He owns and operates James Cairncross & Associates Inc. (JC&A), an independent management consulting business. Jim’s primary responsibilities include leading consulting assignments for clients often with client staff assistance.

Prior to setting up his own management consulting firm, he was a partner for 8 years in the predecessor accounting and consulting firm of Ernst & Young Canada. Jim had consulted with the electrical utility industry for a number of years and the motivation to start his own business was to operate with more of a “hands on” approach to consulting, working directly with clients to assist in improving their company’s performance.

Jim holds a Bachelor of Engineering Science from Western University, as well as his Master of Business Administration from Ivey. Anyone looking towards management consulting, entrepreneurship, or the energy field would benefit a great deal from Jim’s experiences.
