Graham, Stacey '92 - Rowing

Stacey Graham from the Class of 1992, a Tiger Tie recipient and multiple Ridley athletic award winner, says that she was fiercely proud to represent our school in competition. “We had a long and rich history of women in sport by the time I competed for Ridley,” she recalls, “and this is a legacy I am proud to have continued.” Her contributions began in the late eighties playing field hockey and volleyball, eventually captaining both teams and leading them to city championships and OFSSA medals. On the water, her achievements were equally impressive. She captured gold with the Senior Women’s Eight in 1991 and again with the Senior Women’s Four in 1992, the same year she and her crew went on to win the silver medal at the English Henley. 1992 was also significant because it marked the first year of Ridley Girls hockey, now a wildly successful team, and she was captain. After Ridley, she has enjoyed a varied and rewarding athletic career, rowing for the University of Western Ontario, winning national and international championships with the Canadian rowing team, running marathons. She even traded her ice skates for sled runners, taking part in the Canadian championships as a member of the National Bobsleigh team.

“I was not always the athlete with natural talent or ability, but I worked harder, practiced longer, and had an unwavering drive to succeed.”
