Many of us at Ridley were three or four sport athletes and so was Gord Glass (though not many of us can say we toured England with the Canadian Colts Cricket team as a teenager). He was also a three sport athlete at Bishop’s University where he played varsity football, hockey and tennis. After being named Bishop’s Male Athlete of the year in 1969, Gord started his journey, participating in and growing community sport. First he coached dozens of teams in hockey and lacrosse for decades before creating Gateway Lacrosse in 2004 to service the youth of North East Ohio. Gateways community outreach offers clinics, camps, travel teams, and developmental programming that has now touched the lives thousands of Ohians.
“Ridley cricket was coached by two superior teachers and mentors: Jack Aylott and Ed Burn. Although we did not realize it at the time, leadership and character development were as important as winning.”
