A noteable career in Hockey truly began at Ridley for Gord Chaplin. In the days that our First team often played and defeated the JV teams at RPI, Cornell and Princeton, a passion for teamwork and for the game became a part of his DNA. A self proclaimed “rink rat”, Gord played at Acadia University before moving to the front office to become an Executive member and President of the 1992 Allan Cup Champion Cambridge Hornets. Always a builder and friend to Ridley, Gord has had a hand in pushing student athletes to our gates and in the continued evolution of hockey as founding supporter of our now internationally recognized Girls Hockey program. To paraphrase him: the late Dr Griffith once said “If you lose say nothing, if you win say less.” “l can't say I lived up to that mantra” he says, “but teamwork learned on the ice and field helped me learn to persevere when things in life didn't always go the way you expected.” Amen.
“Teamwork learned on the ice and field carried over into a business career and to persevere when things in life didn't always go the way you expected.”
