An Bhalla was a multiple first team colour athlete at Ridley, but her sport journey put her in the seat of driver and motivator. Hers was the little voice in your head that tells you not to quit, that you can go faster, that you can go further, that you can do more, that you can be better. A Bronze W recipient at the University of Western Ontario, her voice and her skill drove crews to OUA and Canadian Henley Championships, and her dependability and moxy earned her the trust of coaches like Neil Campbell. She is quoted as saying “If you really want something in your heart, the only thing standing in your way is you.” and her drive and determination helped her dreams and those of her female teammates become lasting memories.
“I learned that I did not have to be six feet tall to be an athlete, I found a sport that I loved and loved me back. I learned to be me for me. I thank sport for that. It made me who I am today.”
