Guidance and University Counselling
University Application Process
September
• Students have appointments with a member of the Guidance team to discuss their preliminary university plans. For U.S. or U.K. applicants, an early appointment with Mr. Hall is essential.

• U.S. College applications sent for or downloaded by students, also Canadian Applications outside Ontario, and residence applications. Check whether Residence application is combined or separate. Applying online is encouraged: A credit card number will be required for all online application purposes.

• U.S. applicants, register early for October and November SATs. Use The College Board web site, www.collegeboard.com for registration. A credit card number is required.

October
• College Board Exams: SAT I or SAT II, 9 October (Thanksgiving Break).

• Distribution of 4th Dimension University Tour Packages before Thanksgiving.
- Students and parents plan their own university tours and make their own travel arrangements.

• Grade 12 Parents’ Day, Saturday 16 October.

• U.S. applicants, register for December SATs online.

• Plan for University Tours: 1 – 3 November set aside for university visits.

November
• College Board Exams: SAT I or SAT II, 6 November.

• 4th Dimension University Tours.

• All U.S. applications with January deadlines must be handed in to the Guidance Office.

• Watch deadlines. Refer to U.S. deadlines brochures.

• Ontario University Application meetings for students to apply online.

December
• Guidance Department processes all current applications (transcripts, test scores, recommendations).

• College Board Exams: SAT I or SAT II, 4 December.

• Register for January SATs.

January
• College Board Exams: SAT I or SAT II, 22 January (last chance).

• Review university plans and make any necessary adjustments based on Christmas results.

• Outside Ontario applications to be handed in to the Guidance Department.

• Apply for residence where required.

February
• Review university plans to be sure they are complete and appropriate.

• Ontario university changes to be in before 14 February.

• Respond to university mailings, such as Personal Information Forms, well before deadlines.

• Marks sent for first round offers in Ontario.

March
• Break: enjoy! University Open Campus Days a great chance to get a final look.

April
• Cumulative first and second term marks sent.

• U.S. Colleges announce admission decisions.

• Many Ontario universities announce first round admission decisions later in the month.

May
• Admission offers accepted or declined by students.

• 2nd round: remainder of Ontario university decisions made.

June
• 13 June deadline to confirm Ontario university places.

• Other Canadian Universities announce through to month end. Some may require final marks which will be available after 27 June '06.
