About Ridley
Welcome from the Head of School
Ridley’s 120th year has started with a full compliment of pupils and some 15 new faculty. Both represent a diverse set of enormous talent. As ever, our hopes run high in September.

This year we have adopted the catch phrase “Making It Happen", as our mantra. With the School planning to embark on a major upgrade of our athletic facilities in the next few years so the first project is to build a new ice rink. Subsequently the current rink will be converted into an indoor field house.

Our new Director of Athletics, Mr. Jay Tredway is giving a strong lead to many new initiatives. Also, at the end of September, Mr. Jay Goulart will become the new Executive Director of Advancement. As the year unfolds we look forward to reaching out to the many constituent parts of the Ridley Family so that, combined, we can all “make it happen” for the next generation of Ridleians.

Jonathan Leigh,
Headmaster.Sincerely,
Jonathan Leigh
Ridley College Headmaster

From the Headmaster's Desk
Ridley Rings in the New School Year!
Following our successful introduction of weekly pushpages last year, we are continuing the practice in hopes of ensuring regular contact with parents, alumni and all well-wishers of Ridley. Once again, I have pleasure in providing the link to my start of year greeting which is made to all new parents. This year I have strengthened the disciplinary statement so that it contains a new section on the continued worrying spectre of drugs and alcohol in schools and, especially, how we at Ridley are thinking. We will be following up further on this in mid-September after I have held an assembly with the school. May I also draw your attention to the conference we are holding here on the 30th of October, 2008. An event which concerns cosmopolitan global issues for schools – we feel it is particularly important for Ridley.

I do hope you have had a great summer. Now we look forward to a strong 120th year for Ridley as we welcome everybody back for the Michaelmas Term.

Jonathan Leigh,
Headmaster.

Bassett, President of NAIS, addresses The Right-Brained Future: Creating the 21st Century School followed by a panel of educators that will challenge current trends and how and why developing a global approach is essential to preparing Canadian leaders of the future.
